Excellent win over Hereford

Longton are on the way back up the table. What a excellent team performance again from everyone. The conditions plus 14 men and a key man injured (we do it the hard way) we came away with a well deserved win and denied a Hereford team who new what they were doing any points. An excellent day which started with the best lunch todate and I for one appreciate all the hard work on and off the field which goes to making an enjoyable day.

There was a man that owned a giant gorilla and, all its life, he'd never left it on its own. But eventually he had to go on a business trip and had to leave his gorilla in the care of his next-door neighbor. So he explained to his neighbor that all he had to do was feed his gorilla three bananas a day at three, six and nine o'clock.

But he was never ever, ever to touch its fur.

So the next day the man came and gave the gorilla a banana and looked at it for a while thinking, “Why can't ...

It's a beautiful, warm spring morning and a couple are spending the day at the zoo. She's wearing a loose-fitting, spring dress, sleeveless with straps. He's wearing jeans and a T-shirt.

As they walk through the ape exhibit, they pass in front of a very large hairy gorilla. Noticing the girl, the gorilla goes mad. He jumps up on the bars, and holding on with one hand, he grunts and pounds his chest with his free hand. He is obviously excited at the pretty lady in the wavy dress.

On the last dive they got separated, Jim surfaced ok, but his wife was nowhere to be seen. They initiated a search but after a long day and night, it was called off and Jim went back home alone and heartbroken.

Great performance by the U15s today lads. Probably the best display I've seen you give in a Longton shirt. Handsworth were a very good team, very physical with good runners and a huge pack. They were the sort of team you'd have really struggled against last season. But our forwards fronted up to them really well and easily matched them in the set piece. I'd say our backs had the better of them all game. If it wasn't for an interception try and a couple of missed tackles we'd have won. ...

Great win away at Brinsford Prison 0-49 on Saturday. Not the best opposition, but you can only play against the people in front of you.

Powerful scrummaging, accurate lineout play and solid rucking from our forwards totally dominated the young bucks from the prison. Good setpiece moves and open running showed them how to play in the backs. Let's hope the 3rds can take the positives down to Newcastle next week.

It was also good to see 7 of our 9 tries scored by Vets!!

A much better game yesterday we are still making too many unforced errors and giving away silly penalties but the signs were encouraging against a good team who have recruited some good players .. shame about Wils.. I hope the injury is not too serious...well done to one and all but the long hard season starts next week so lets keep up the momentum.....and enjoy.
